What is a Blog?

Famous Wiki, the quick encyclopedia, defined BLOG as a discussion or informational site published on the World Wide Web and consisting of discrete entries ("posts") typically displayed in reverse chronological order (the most recent post appears first).

While the extremely smart guy named WiseGEEK says, "a blog is a diary or journal where the writer or "blogger" will write her observations on the world or provide links to useful websites".
There are different types of blogs; they differ in the type of content, category, theme, and purpose. You can read about the different types of blogs in Wiki.
Here's my own list of blog categories:
Personal Blog or I-am-mE Blog
A personal blog is the most common blog. It is like a diary or journal of an individual. Having a diary is ancient; people used pen and paper until a guy named Charles Babbage invented the computer. Some personal bloggers just keep their blog posts private. They find blogging as an outlet and a way of expressing one's self. Some would blog and share their posts to the public as a way to communicate with other people. They want to share their thoughts, feelings, or experiences to their friends, families, or loved ones. Since this type of blog is personalized, it reflects the life or personality of the author, writer, or blogger. Therefore, I call this the "I-Am-Me Blog".
Business Blog or The Bread & Butter Blog
Most entrepreneurs these days are entering the world of blogging, or the blogosphere. People in the business have discovered "blogging" as a new way to engage with their clients and stay connected with them. It's a way of building a long-lasting relationship by keeping a good communication. If you're in a business, you know what I mean. :) You know how important it is to keep your clients updated with your products and services. Their feedback or their "voice" matters. Your clients are your bread and butter...and that's why you're blogging.
By Genre
Health blog, sports blog, music blog, food blog, fashion blog, travel blog (or travelog), garden blog, you name it! There are people who'd blog about a particular subject according to what's hip, crisp, or whatever is engaging or popular. A person would blog about what interests him or her the most. If you are a food lover, you'd blog about food and dining. If you love Brad Pitt and Angelina, you'd probably blog about their life, the latest news, etc. If you love DIYs or crafting, you'd blog about your projects. There are so many things to blog about; it's a big big world honey! ;)
Video Blog
It is also known as vlogs (video logs) and it's all about videos. It's like a television on the web. Most people nowadays are crazy about videos and they love to share it to the world. Many would post their videos on YouTube so the world can see. I know a girl named Charice who got discovered by Ellen Degeneres (I love Ellen by the way, just saying |giggles|)through YouTube. Now, she's popular in America and made one of her songs the Billboard's number 1 hit in 2010.
Photoblog
This is one of my personal favorites. It is a form of photo sharing that's published in the format of a blog. If you love taking photos or just love photography, then you'd be photoblogging.

If you are a Blog Baby, which means you are new in the web and want to create a blog but do not know how to start, then this will be really helpful.
The Blog Baby will help you decide what kind of blog you'd want for your self or your business.
Now, are you ready to create your own blog? If then, answer these questions first and from there, you're good to go:
"Why do I want to blog? What's my purpose?"
Until the next blog post my blog babies, I'm getting some milk for my real babies now.
Hugs!
Blog Baby Moki
